The general set up of this fight is based around moving Ossirian between obelisks which spawn around the fight area. Normally Ossirian can one shot anyone, doing around 10k damage per hit, and has high resistances to all spells. The obelisks take away all these uber abilities for a while.
Tanks - Ossirian is tanked by 2 warriors as he has an ability to encase people in a whirlwind, taking them off his aggro list temporarily. It is the tanks job to move him from obelisk to obelisk. Ossirian is pretty much immune to melee damage so any other tanks over the first 2 will usually end up being scouts
Scouts - It is the scout’s job to seek out and find the next obelisk. In order to do this, the scouts stay mounted all fight and will do no DPS at any point. Usually the scouts will be hunters and rogues, as Ossirian is highly resistant to physical damage at all times.
The obelisk user – This will be one person, with a back up in case of unfortunate death accidents. The obelisk user must be at each obelisk in time to use it. When the obelisk activates if Ossirian is in range he looses his one shot ability and some of his magic resistance for about 45 seconds. The obelisks take about 5 seconds to activate after being used so take this into account. The obelisk user will normally be a druid or a hunter, as they are the only classes that can consistently move quickly in a combat.
The pinger – This is the person who will deal with pinging the location of obelisks on the mini map. Unless requested to, no one else must ping the map at any point.
The fight can be roughly split into three phases:
1) The Pull
In order to pull Ossirian the raid starts mounted and clustered at the first obelisk, which is always in the same place. MT2 rides up to Ossirian and then rides him to obelisk number 1. The obelisk user must time the use of the first obelisk so that it activates just as Ossirian reaches it. By this time the second obelisk should have been located. The rest of the raid stays mounted and moves over to the second obelisk as soon as it's pinged on the mini-map. Still mounted, MT2 rides Ossirian to the second obelisk. MT1 and MT2 then dismount, along with the healing teams, and start to build up aggro on Ossirian. The reason we ride him straight to the second obelisk is in order to give the tanks some time to build up aggro so that Ossirian doesn’t go kill the healers. Be careful with healing in the first few seconds of this stage, and remember that stuff like battleshout generates aggro as well so dont self buff until the tanks have plenty of aggro. At this stage NO DPS will be done to Ossirian.
2) The kiting
Once Ossirian reaches the second obelisk, the kiting begins. At each obelisk, the MTs build aggro on Ossirian until CTraid flashes “15 seconds till supreme mode”. At this point the obelisk user activates the obelisk. Once the obelisk has successfully been used on Ossirian, the obelisk user announces to the raid “Obelisk activated” or something similar.
Whilst Ossirian has been at this obelisk, the scouts will have found the next obelisk. When scouts find an obelisk they must tell the raid leader (or the nominated pinger) IN WHISPERS that they have found one, and roughly where it is. DO NOT PING its location. When the “Obelisk activated” announcement is made, the pinger starts pinging on the mini-map where the tanks have to take Ossirian next. Soon as the tanks see the ping, start moving Ossirian towards it. When the next obelisk is reached, again just keep Ossirian there until the “Obelisk activated” announcement, and then look for the next ping. Rinse and repeat for the duration of the fight
3) DPSing Ossirian
This is a long fight, and DPS must be done carefully. Each time you activate an obelisk Ossirian looses 100 resistance and takes 100% extra damage from one particular element (i.e. shadow or frost). The DPS call will not come till the third or fourth obelisk. When it DOES come you can cast either 2 direct damage spells, or 2 dots, or 1 of each when Ossirian is vulnerable to your element. And that’s IT for that stretch of vulnerability. If you crit, don’t cast another spell. To be even safer, only cast one spell the first time you get an opportunity. Remember, he’s taking double damage with very low resistances AND the tanks will only have half the aggro they normally do. So be careful. As the fight goes on you will be asked to up the DPS. Uping the DPS means you can cast ONE EXTRA spell in the time you have. It’s a long old fight so don’t rush.
Non spell casting DPSers – sorry you’re out of luck. Hunters and rogues will usually end up being scouts as Ossirian doesn’t really take physical damage.
Curse of Tongues – Ossirian does curse of tongues a lot. Therefore we buff shadow protection and will assign a mage to decursing. Don’t bother trying to stay out of range – we’ll decurse it when it happens. Better to be in range for healing!
Knockback – Ossirian does an aoe knockback attack – we are not clear if that reduces aggro or not yet but we suspect not. Because of this attack the raid should at all times position themselves between the next obelisk and the MTs. That way if you get knocked back, or you get aggro, at least you’re flying towards where we want Ossirian to be anyway
Whirlwinds – There are a couple of whirlwinds that will kill you if you go into them. The raid leader will occasionally shout "whirlwind warning". If you see this, and we're going to an obelsik then dont go near it. We'll get ossy close, use the obelisk and move on as fast as we can. If we're not near an obelisk simply watch out. Mostly you just have to be aware and keep your eyes open.
Tanking – DON’T try and tank Ossirian before he has the effect of the first obelisk on him, or he’ll one shot you. If we somehow mess up on the first obelisk, treat the second obelisk like the first and stay mounted till we’ve got him debuffed and parked at an obelisk
When tanking him you need to move him quickly to the next obelisk. If possible, keep your back to the next obelisk so that if you are knocked back Ossirian will still be headed to the right place. Don’t stop sundering when moving him, but plan to build most of your aggro when he’s parked at an obelisk
Scouts – There should NEVER be more than one scout at an obelisk. Assign scouts to cover different portions of the area, i.e. north and south. And NEVER ping unless asked to – a stray ping can cause a wipe. The raid leader/pinger will ask you via macros to ping the location of an obelisk if needed – be aware that you may have to form a “ping trail” on the minimap to make its location clear. At any rate you will be asked to stop pinging as soon as the raid leader/pinger knows where it is. As soon as you find an obelisk say in party "north, south, east, west or middle" depending on where it is and STAY THERE till the pinger gets there. Once he does, move on. There should never be 2 scouts in one place - cover different areas.
As soon as the obelisk you are at is being pinged, move off and find another. Keep up a steady stream of whispers to the raid leader, it helps a lot.
Healers – Split up the healers a bit to have some of them standing on the obelisk just healing as soon as the tanks get in range. Keep every hot possible up on the current tank and have some healers run along with the tank and heal also. Be careful of standing behind Ossirian when he’s at an obelisk as if you get aggro, you’ll pull him away from the obelisk so try and get in front of him when he is parked at an obelisk so that if you pull aggro, he will still be in range of an obelisk. [glow=red,2,300] (Erath/Gruntle, can you flesh out this part please? I’d like to post full healing order for ossy here. Post it in the “healing orders for AQ” thread and I’ll lift it into this bit) [/glow]
DPSers – Be careful with your dps – expect it to be a long fight. Wand damage can be significant in this fight so remember to check what element wands you have on you. A warlock may not be able to DOT when Ossirian is vulnerable to nature, but he may have a nature wand he could use.
Also, you may as well stay mounted until the DPS call comes. That way you can get out of the way of Ossirian quickly till you have to dismount.
TeamSpeak - If everyone can get on teamspeak for this fight then great. Knowing that you can send whispers to individuals on team speak can be good as scouts can use that to whisper the raid leader about obelisk positions
Obelisk User - Dont trust CTRaid! Use a stopwatch - ossirian stays depbuffed for 45 seconds. And dont leave it too late, we need to strike a balance betwee letting the tanks gain aggro, and not letting ossy go supreme
So, pull, park at obelisk, debuff, kite to next obelisk, debuff, dps at some point, be patient!
