High time I got round to doing one of these, good old slow download of patch *sighs*
Ruins of Ahn Qiraj – Healing Strategy
Trash
AQ trash is generally a bit tougher than the trash in Zul Gurub, so we run with 1 on the Main Tank, and 4 spammers.
For the Guardians, druids will root one whilst the other is killed. Better if two or more druids do it, and they keep spamming it, as it has a tendency to get broken easily. These guardians also have some self-buff that makes them grow, this can be purged.
Most of the buggy trash do poisons, so poison cleansing is great, as is the nature res totem if you don’t have a hunter in your group with the nature res aspect.
The Obsidian Gargoyles need their mana draining, priests have to do that.
The bug trash between Buru and Ayamiss (or Ossirian and Ayamiss) is nasty as hell, will need a healer for each tank and the rest spamming.
The Guardians around Ossy need 1 on MT and 7 (if poss) on spam. Usually shamans should hug like they were melee and druids/priests hug like they were ranged.
Kurinnaxx
4 on the MT – these should be on the same group so that they can see each others positions on the mini-map, and can spread out
2 spammers
If you get hit by the sandstorm thingie you’ll get silenced, so just bandage the damage and wait for the silence to wear off. Your fellow healers will be able to pick up the slack..
General Rajaxx
Druids need to buff the elites before we go. It’s a long fight, mana regen is good here.
During the waves:
2 on our MT, who’ll be tanking the named guy in each wave
2 on spamming our raid
2 on Andolov
2 on the Kaldoran Elites
The first wave has a guy that fears, so the MT shaman will need to make tremor totem. The third wave has some kind of AoE guy, if Andolov and the elites attack him then they’ll need lots of attention, else they’ll die. The seventh and final wave has a guy that can buff either his friends or himself – he grows really big and blue, this can be purged.
After the seventh wave Rajaxx himself will attack us. At this point every healer should get their backs to the wall. This fight has changed a bit in patch 1.12 and Andolov is no longer guaranteed to tank Rajaxx. So the 2 healers who were on him in phase 1 stay on him at all times. The other 6 healers will heal whoever is Rajaxx's current target.
Moam
Priests will be needed to drain mana unless we’re very short of shaman or druids (less than 4 total)
Phase 1
2 should be on MT, 2 on spam. Spare druids can do cat dps in healing gear, mainly so they avoid having their mana drained by Moam.
Phase 2
Warlocks should immediately banish the adds. Priests keep draining Moam. 1 druid that was in cat form for phase 1 is assigned to the warlocks. If any tanks are required to tank an add, they each get 1 healer. All other druids/shaman are assigned to spam, but can ninja-dps Moam as there shouldn’t be that much to heal if adds are banished (if not there will be plenty, they have a very nasty arcane explosion)
After Moam is dead, all will need to spam to keep raid alive whilst the adds are dealt with.
Buru the Gorger
3 on the watched person (priests are good for this with their shields)
1 on Groups 1-2
1 on Groups 3-4
1 on back up (should the watched person be one of the above 5)
Others can dps
Whilst the kiting is taking place for what will be the final egg (Buru on 27% or less), healers should all make sure everyone is on 100% health.
When the shell pops everyone is on dpsing Buru. Everyone will need to hug him. Priests will need to use mass fear to get rid of the adds.
Everyone switch to spam once Buru dies, whilst the adds are killed.
Ayamiss the Hunter
4 on group spam. Priests are good at this, prayer of healing is great.
3 on Ayamiss’s target (some ranged dps guy in phase 1, the MT in phase 2).
Shamans need to have nature res down unless they are in a group with a hunter, although they should make tranquil air when Ayamiss is landing (unless MT is in their group, obviously!)
Ossirian - Shadow Protection needed here
1 Priest is assigned to each of the two main tanks. Their main job is to always stay in range of that tank, ready to shield them and keep them HoTed. 4 healers will be assigned to tank healing. Their job is to keep the tank currently tanking Ossirian alive. It's the responsibility of the priest to top up the tanks health when he is not tanking, as the 4 other tank healers will have moved on to the other target.
Any spare healers will be on spam. Should a MT healer die or go oom they will fill in.
Druids can whack their decurse button from time to time if they get the chance. This becomes particularly important if we're short on mages or the mages die!
Priests need to be aware of who the third (and fourth) tanks are so that if their tank dies they can swap to that target.
All healers need to try to in range of the tanks at all times. It is possible to stay in range of the tanks and out of range of Ossirian's knockback, but its not easy. Worth trying though.
If healers can fire off some ninja dps they should feel free, whilst ensuring they don't go out of mana or let the tanks die. Healers can monitor their threat using the KTM threat meter.
Winds are very important for healers, and also very tricky. We don't want to ignore winds, blindly carry on healing the tanks and hope they miss us, else they will, sooner or later shred us. At the same time, we don't want to see a wind warning, panic, move the camera around like crazy to find the wind, move to a safe spot, breathe a sigh of relief, then carry on healing; more than likely after all that time there will be no tanks left to heal. Try to move to safety quickly, don't panic, and start healing as soon as possible. Instant heals are very useful in this situation, shields, heals powered by Nature's Swiftness, even HoTs, will hopefully be enough to keep the tank alive whilst the wind passes by.
