1 – Lines of communication
It is required of all members of the Fallen Ones to register as a user on this forum and keep up to date on posts of important nature. The forum will be our main source of communication and it will always be assumed that you are prepared to take the short time needed to keep up to date on current events.
All members of the Fallen Ones are welcome to participate in the debates on the forums, although the site administrator will have the right to move or remove misplaced or abusive posts.
If someone should find a post abusive, please contact a member of the council in game (or via the possibilities given on this site) first, rather than picking up the sword in retaliation.
2 – To be or not to be
The Fallen Ones is not a roleplaying guild as such today, neither will we probably ever become total roleplay. Our members play this game to have good fun and good company. This said, we are in a fantasy world and I truly hope that all the members will have some idea about who they are (having chosen a role playing server and all…) and I will always encourage roleplay in reasonable amounts (taking 8+ hours to complete Wailing Caverns due to the extensive story lines thought up doing so will not seem reasonable to some).
The chat and channel rules set out by Blizzard are of course enforced. This said…
Guild channel
Our guild channel is a slightly insane mixture of OOC (Out Of Character) with an IC (In Character) twist. It's very entertaining and highly addictive.
Party
According to Blizzard, chat in party must be IC. I personally find that this can be restrictive in some situations and I suggest that chat rules in parties are determined between the participants of those. If a member of this party demands IC in party chat, they are in their good right to do so and, if you cannot accept this, you are in your good right to leave that party
Local/say
As Blizzard has stated quite clearly, local chat must always be IC.
General
My only comment to general channel is that I never have it enabled. Ever. End of subject.
3 – The proper tone
The members of the Fallen Ones are a family and, like most families, we enjoy teasing with love. This said, it is expected of all members of the Fallen Ones to show due respect to their brethren. In general, all members will be required to treat and talk to each other with common respect, no matter the age or stature of the given member. However, an officer of the Fallen Ones is indeed an officer and will be treated and addressed in accordance. Lack of due respect is not advised.
(Although we do not require roleplay, we do encourage it. If you find that your chosen character will have problems adapting to the above stated rules of tone, please contact me in game to discuss the grounds for this, before giving any cause for a dispute. As much as I respect throughout roleplay and enjoy a complete character, I have a zero tolerance policy for “unleashed troublemakers”).
4 – Honor among thieves
There are various levels of greed in this world. While it is always acceptable to think of gold to earn, it is never acceptable to do so at the cost of honor. In explanation, I give 2 examples below.
A – You are in a team, solving tasks together. A creature reveals a shiny goodie when falling dead. This goodie might bring a price to the owner. Here, you will make sure that no one in the party has actual need for the item, before hoping for a lucky outcome in the dice (a.k.a. rolling, used either by in game roll or the /random 100 command). It is recommended that you talk with your team members about these rules before setting out for longer adventures.
(There are various ways to solve this but basically, don’t be greedy if someone actually there has a need. If an alt of yours or someone else needs it, it's considered greed, not need. Felbane has written an excellent post on loot rules elsewhere in the forum, look there for more specifics.)
B – You have found and won a shiny goodie somewhere and wish to sell it. Being a supportive member, you may think of offering it to the members of the Fallen Ones. This is always nice and will earn you respect in the eyes of your peers, but stop to think for a moment what price you will expect to receive. If you plan to get the highest possible amount for it, make sure you state this first before mentioning to the guild that you are interested in selling it. If someone is interested in bargaining, talk to them in private about this. The shared ears of the guild must never be used for bargaining, we are not an auction house. If you find earning gold more important (or needed!) than supporting members of the family, set the item for sale on the auction house. This does not mean that you should not get a fair price selling items in the guild, should you need this, it means you will not exploit the forum.
Continuous acts of "honorless" greed will carry consequences.
5 – Solving disputes
The council members will try to mediate in disputes. If you have issues that you are unable to solve on your own with someone in the guild, please bring such issues to the council. Picking up the fight in public will only reflect badly on yourself in the end so take a deep breath, dear.
