I found this at the EU Shaman forums:
It might be a good idea to use it again
I was just wondering about this trinket and it's mana regenerative capabilities, so I did some calculations.
(Here's a link to the trinket :http://www.thottbot.com/?i=52068)
I'll even share them with you
(Can't seem to post on my shaman..)
Note: The trinket also gets improved by talents that improve Mana Spring.
- If you specced Eventide, this totem will last 10 seconds longer
- If you specced Improved Mana Spring, this effect will be increased by 25%
For Non-Mana Tide specced shaman:
It restores 27 mana per 2 seconds, over 24 seconds in total.
This means it gives 13.5 mana per second.
After the 24 seconds are up, you have gained 13.5x24 = 324 mana.
Now, this may seem like no big deal, but it's not if you look at it the following way:
The cooldown on the trinket is 3 minutes, that's 180 seconds.
Divide 324 by 180, = 1,8. If you'd multiply this by 5, you'd get 9.
Thus, if the trinket is used to it's full potential, it gives non-Mana Tide shaman 9 mana per 5 seconds. That's almost as good as Mindtap Talisman, and it works for the whole party!
It get's better though.
If you specced for Mana Tide, the trinket will suddenly grant you:
33 to 34 mana regenerated per 2 seconds for 34 seconds.
This equals 33 to 34 granted per second for 17 seconds.
The same math again.
17x33 = 561
Divide 561 by 180, = 3,1166 and multiply by 5
You and your party would get 15,583 mana per 5 seconds from this trinket, if specced to Mana Tide and used to full potential. That's WAY better than Mindtap Talisman. And it's for every healer in your group. Not too bad for a lvl 50 trinket, eh?
