Another "I'm bored at work thread." Thought I'd review some mods that are currently contributing to my 2 min loading screen, I invite you to do likewise !
Ace2 mods
Trying to use mostly Ace2 mods at the moment mainly because its so easy to install and update them using the wowaceupdater program
rowne.wowace.com/wiki/WinAceUpdater
(you also need to install .NET 2.0 Runtime which is also linked from that page)
This program lets you select any existing ace2 mod to either install or update - it downloads the zip file, unpacks it in the right place then deletes the zip file, no fuss. I t also has a function that checks and updates all your currently installed ace2 mods which I run weekly.
Arkinventory rowne.wowace.com/wiki/ArkInventory
Inventory mod - On a basic level makes your inventory a single bag, but you can then set it to have sort of "virtual bags" where categories of items are given their own little segment, for example one for potions, one for food, one for poisons etc - Items you place in your inventory will automatically be placed in the appropriate virtual bag which will get bigger or smaller as necessary. In addition lets you look at the bags and bank of all your alts.
ArcHUD rowne.wowace.com/wiki/ArcHUD
Simple HUD - can pretty much configure it as you like. One nice feature for rogues is that it can show energy ticks.
Bartender2 rowne.wowace.com/wiki/Bartender2
My current choice of mod for action bars - its enough for my purposes !
Bigwigs rowne.wowace.com/wiki/BigWigs
Raid boss mod, fairly standard now I think.
Cartographer rowne.wowace.com/wiki/Cartographer
This is a great map mod, highly recommended. Gives you a windowed map of any zone including instances or battleground, will plot resource nodes (which are then shared guildwide,) allows you to see the location of other guild members with the mod (as if they were partied with you.) You can also use it to plot waypoints which is great for grinding herbs/ore. It also has built in lootlists for bosses in instances (might be an additional module that does that.)
Closetgnome rowne.wowace.com/wiki/ClosetGnome
My current wardrobe type mod - the core program is very simple and easy to use but you can get modules that do stuff like automatically equipping a different set of gear when you mount or automatically unequipping your weapons when you die (for the cheapskates )
Fizzle rowne.wowace.com/wiki/Fizzle
Shows durability as a percent over each equipped item.
Fubar - Gives you bar(s) at the top and/or bottom of the screen which you can customise with about a zillion different plugin modules. Some current favorites :
TopScoreFu - how can anyone not want to know when they just did their all-time biggest crit ?
RestFu - Tracks rested xp across characters, good for alt-whores who like to multi-power-level (like me)
Whisperfu - makes it easier to keep track of multiple whispered conversations, also good for afk-whores (like me)
MoneyFu - tracks your gold across all characters, also informs you of your income/spending per hour/day/week
GuildFu - guild frame that makes the astonishing leap of having all the information on a single screen rather than two screens as per the built in guild display - what will they think of next ?
Duratek - Displays your overall durability as a percentage
Gemlist -Esssential mod for Jewelcrafters, allows others to remotely search your recipes to see what you are able to craft.
Hemlock rowne.wowace.com/wiki/Hemlock
Takes the pain out of buying and making poisons
Perfect Raid - Compact but clear raid frames
SCT - Still way better than Blizzard's built in combat text
Others
Auctioneer - Still my favorite AH mod, especially good for shifting large quantities of crappy gems for a reasonable price
CTRA - one day I will figure out oRA but until then....
CTmailmod - good for shifting large quantities of crappy gems to your bank alt so he can use auctioneer and sell them for a reasonable price
CTviewport - lets you pretend you are playing in widescreen !
SWstats - Still my favorite damage metre, just has tones of usefull information, from what is your most mana-efficient spell to what type of damage the raid is taking.
