I very quick recap- I actually think we did great, as I also said in the channel, we might have done some noob mistakes but its clear to see that its getting better. I think the MA tactic worked- when people actually remembered to use it. And for myself, I reeeaaally need to learn and stick to my first target when I am MA, even though I get confused when no one else attacks it We also need to get a bit more clear on the kill order- what to kill in what situations and “what if that class is not there, who should we then kill first” etc. I personally think a mage/warlock/priest is less of a threat with close to zero mana but full HP, then a warrior pumped with rage but with 50% HP. You are more then welcome to add more

generally MA's mission is to kill the target that will die first, rather than take threats out of the way. Played right, pretty much any class is a threat, while some classes are easier to kill. its harder to heal yourself, so going for a healer is usually a good idea, things like that.

Did you know by the way that it's sometimes possible to mark people as you can in raids by the way? I've found that works wonders in 3v3 since you can actually have one you leave alone for sheeping, and one you kill. It only works when you get a second to do it of course, and there seems to be something funny where you can't always do it. But it's a help when you can!

We've tried it Sly but so far it hasn't been possible, as in nothing happens no marks to be seen. Of the things we have tried so far, the assisting MA is by far the most successful. It will take some training but definately has good potential.

A warlock lifetaps, and are dangerous after a few seconds, A good priest generates mana at an awesome speed, and could give a lot of trouble a little later.. and wiould have been easy to kill while he/she was low on mana mage, sit down and drink..

Terri, a mage that sits down and drinks is an idiot... all mages have Evocation, all cooldowns are reset, so you will always have it. You also have mana gems. If you need to spend more than 2 full mana bars, something is wrong.

I see your point Terri and yet... a lock tapping is left with very little hp left=fast kill. Yes, a priest in healing/regen gear can regen insanely fast. However, if that priest wants to survive more than 2 shots, the priest needs to sacrifice her regen for stamina. Using myself as example, I have around 5k hp in healing/regen gear. In arena gear (10k hp), I have around 150 regen. What good is loads of mana if you're dead? Mage, share your water

Terri,
I dont know what spec you are for the arenas but I've had an experiment with a few different specs (yay for the reducing of respec cost over time rule!)
So far I have found one to be by far the most successful - and that's 40/0/21. Get ruin, get shadow burn, get instant mass fear, and most importantly, get dark pact. That way you can replinish your mana from your pet without any loss of life, your shadowbolts hit hard due to +shadow damage and ruin, and your dots are nasty since you grab all the +damage to dots on the affliction tree. I've found that to be way better than destro spec or demonology spec for arena play.
That's just my 2 cents though - the main point here is that you should never use life tap in an arena match. You just make yourself a target. The only time you should use it is if you have just feared someone, and you are going to drainlife them straight away. Even so though, emergencies only.

tardon: I'm an idiot then. I *always* make drinks for arena matches. You never know when you run into a resto team that just survives and survives. I've been in 2 vs 2 matches where I had to spend ~5 mana bars on chasing a resto druid and a shaman around.

Defiantly an improvement from earlier fights, using Slit as MT as he can go around stealth in the beginning of the match and do a little recon for the best target worked wonders… as long as he wasn’t distracted of course *glares at Zianna*
On a little side note; did anyone see a difference from me playing after, Zik?- it have nothing to do with skill as I know, Zik is a d**n good player, but I was just wondering if you could feel the difference in my 2H burst dmg over the slower(stable) dmg from, Zikores DW?

oh and my original purpose of visiting this thread: Asessment of the second arena day! long version:
General patting of backs and stroking of egos. Ardous argument about a point that is obvious and already agreed upon at least 5 times before. Vague insinuation that I figured all that out myself. More pointing out of obviously good tactics we use already, and a reminder to not forget the things that noone really ever forget. Finishing argument that we should keep doing what we are doing, making it sound like my idea so I can claim credit if it still works next time.
short version:
we. kicked. ass.

Slyvar - i'm mainly destruction.. rest is in affliction up to nightfall. Zi - i Agree that lifetapping isn't to be used madly. But with full health (out of around 10.000) it's not a problem to tap a couple of times.. specially not if you have your HS left Tardon - i have no clue about how mages works. Just seen it happen a couple of times 5vs5 takes a looong time A sidenote: Seems my connection has been fixed Shael where wrong.. it's a good company!
